Edith Aileen (Lowery) Lauderdale, age 83, was born April 10, 1931 in Tunnel Hill, IL to Ed & Helen (Simmons) Lowery. She passed away Tuesday morning, May 27, 2014.
She was united in marriage to Glen Lauderdale on April 29, 1950. They were married for 64 years. They lived most of their married life in Aurora, Illinois. They have two children – Sherry (John) Schmidt of St. Charles, IL and Larry (Vicay) Lauderdale of Montgomery, IL. They were blessed with five grandchildren, Dan, Joe, and Katie Schmidt all of St. Charles and Laura and Mike Lauderdale of Montgomery, IL.
Edith was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved people; she never met a stranger and was known to be able to talk to anyone. She loved taking care of her family and having a good time. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, and working to make a home.
Edith was a 1949 graduate of Vienna High School. She was involved in PTA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and was a long-time member of the Fourth Street Methodist Church in Aurora.
She is survived by her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bob Lowery. She will be missed by those that were touched by her life.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, May 31, 2014, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Dr. Glenn Webb will officiate. Burial will be in the Webb Cemetery, near Tunnel Hill. Visitation will be from 10 AM – 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
