Last Saturday, the Vienna High School boys’ basketball team lost to Goreville by the score of 78-58 in a game played at Vienna. It was a hard fought contest with a total of 61 fouls being whistled. The Eagles trailed 18-9 after the first quarter. Goreville pushed its lead to 35-19 at the half and the Blackcats stayed in control the rest of the way. Quinnton Bent led Vienna with 19 points. Goreville’s Kyefer Cavins topped all scorers with 22 points.

On Tuesday of last week, the Eagles lost at Johnston City, by the score of 59-51. Johnston City was ahead 16-9 at the end of the first quarter but Vienna rallied in the second period, outscoring the Indians 20-12 to take a 29-28 halftime lead. The Eagles led 41-39 at the start of the fourth quarter but Johnston City came back in the final frame for the win. Vienna’s Quinnton Bent led all scorers with 23 points. Jake Davison paced Johnston City with 15 points.

The Eagles lost to Fairfield last Friday, 63-52, in a BDC contest at Vienna. The Eagles held a 24-22 halftime lead before Fairfield rallied in the third quarter to take a 45-34 lead into the fourth period and the Mules held on for the win. Blake Crain led Vienna with 14 points, while Fairfield’s Nathaniel Lackey topped all scorers with 20 points.
