John Wayne Hall – Obituary

John Wayne Hall, 66, a resident of New Burnside, and a former resident of Stonefort, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at 10:30 p.m. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

He was born on March 7, 1947, in the Renshaw community (Pope County), the son of John Dee Hall and June Maxine Trout Hall.

He  was united in marriage to Donna G. Hill in 2003 in Colorado Springs, Colo.  She survives.

Other survivors include six children, Jeffery Cochran of Tunnel Hill, Angela Cochran of Harrisburg, Amy Dalton of Ozark, Julie Hall of California, Diana Hall of Colorado, and Corey Hall of Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; five sister, Donna Melnick of Delaware, Ginnie Hall, Julie Simpkinson, Kay Harmon and Vickie Kiester all of Michigan; and four brothers, Scott Ruelle, Chuck Simpkinson, Phil Hall and Jimmy Snyder all of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Hall and June M. Hall Parsons; a son, John Nicholas Hall; and a sister, Donna Hall.

He served in the United States Army from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1969.  He had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization.  John was a self-employed over-the-road truck driver for many years.  During the last 10 years of his career, he worked as a driver for the Odel Williams Logging Company in Carrier Mills. John was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed swimming and was a motorcycle enthusiast.  John was happiest when he was riding his Harley-Davidson.

John was of the Christian faith.

Visitation was held Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  A military flag presentation was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday by the Illinois National Guard burial honors detail.  The Beggs-Gurley VFW Post No. 5222 performed a military walk-thru service. Immediately following the military honors, a funeral service was conducted.  Pastor Fred Wilson officiated.

Interment was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in the Renshaw community.
