Dolores Angeline Houser, 80, a resident of rural New Burnside and a former resident of Vienna, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at 10:30 p.m. at Baptist Health Center in Paducah, Ky.
She was born to Walter and Angeline Rogucki Maziarka on June 21, 1933, in Chicago.
She was united in marriage to Harold O’Neal Houser on Aug. 18, 1951, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1969.
A lifetime learner, she continued her education until her retirement from Shawnee Development Council, as the manager of the Senior Care Program from 1969 to 1998.
She was a member of the Vienna First Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School, bringing joy to many children in the congregation.
In her spare time, Dolores enjoyed researching her family history and connecting with family and friends on the internet. Some of her favorite activities included her love for dancing and classic films. Dolores was a former member of the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce.
She leaves behind her son Harold of Sesser; her daughter Linda (Bob) Tanner of New Burnside; grandchildren, Adam, Christopher, Marcus, Anthony, Michael, Travis and Kaitlin. Dolores shared a home and a unique bond with her grandson Bobby Tanner by whom she will be happily remembered but deeply missed.
She also leaves behind her sister Rose Marie Palgutta of Galena, and brother Robert (Sharon) Maziarka of Libertyville; sister-in-law Leona Maziarka; nieces Jeanna (Dan) Jackson; godchild Kimberly Maziarka; nephew Erik (Wendy) Selva; great-nephew Brandon; and great-niece Tanya.
In addition to her parents and husband Harold, Dolores was preceded in death by a son Michael; a brother George Maziarka; a sister Ruthie Selva; a brother-in-law Edward Palgutta; and a niece Debbie Selva.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Bill Gholson will officiate. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery, north of Vienna.
Visitation will be conducted from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
