Jeff Deel, age 49 years, a resident of rural Golconda (the Temple Hill community) and a former resident of Reevesville, passed away Sunday morning, December 15, 2013, at 1:08 AM at Baptist Health Center in Paducah, Kentucky, following an extended illness.
Jeff was born December 8, 1964 in Joliet, Illinois. He was the son of David & Dixie (Troutt) Deel.
Survivors include: his parents – David & Dixie Deel of the Reevesville community; a brother – Tim Deel of the Reevesville community; a sister – Jennifer (Chris) Rowlett of Vienna; 2 nieces – Jacqueline and Jessica Rigsby; and a nephew – Alex Reed.
Jeff was a 1983 graduate of Vienna High School. He also attended both Shawnee Community College at Ullin and Southeastern Illinois Community College at Harrisburg, earning associate degrees and certification as a diesel technician.
Jeff was employed as a plastics technician at Maytag in Herrin for 17 years. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW).
Jeff was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and cattle farming. Jeff was a proud member of the N.R.A.
Jeff was of the Christian faith. He was a dedicated student of the Bible and had read his Bible from cover-to-cover. Jeff was always willing to give his witness for the Lord. He is remembered for his kindness and willingness to always lend a helping hand. Jeff cherished time spent with family and friends and always put a smile on everyone’s face.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday evening, December 18, 2013, at 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Billy Thomas will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 PM – 7 PM Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home.
