Sharon was born November 6, 1948 in Corning, Arkansas. She was the fourth of five children born to William Theodore Hawkins and Alice Julia (Fread) Hawkins.
Sharon was united in marriage to Ronnie Alsip on May 27, 1967 at the Ballowe Church, south of Vienna. He survives.
Other survivors include: her children – David C. Alsip of Hanson, Kentucky and Julie A. (Paul) Nicks of Jackson, Tennessee; a grandson – Wyatt C. Alsip of Hanson, Kentucky; a brother – Jerry Hawkins of Canyon Lake, Texas; 2 sisters – Barbara Reeves of El Dorado, Kansas and Lorene Cozart of Corning, Arkansas; her mother-in-law – Edna M. Alsip of Vienna, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a brother – Lowell Hawkins.
Sharon was a 1967 graduate of Vienna High School. She had also attended the Northwest Junior College in Corinth, Mississippi. Sharon was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading mystery novels and sewing.
Sharon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waverly, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, November 29, 2013, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Dr. Ed Hollis will officiate. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery southeast of Vienna.
Visitation will be from 10 AM – 11 AM Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
