Shon Wayne Robinson – Obituary

Robinson, Shon

Shon Wayne Robinson was born at Marion Memorial Hospital in Marion, Illinois of July 17, 1991 to Jon and Sheri Robinson. He left this world Monday, August 19, 2013 at his home in Vienna.

Shon attended Vienna Grade School and Vienna High School graduating in 2009. During high school Shon enjoyed working at Dairy Queen in Vienna. After high school Shon served in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of Vienna First Baptist Church and the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. Before Shon was an official member of the fire department, he enjoyed going to fire calls with his grandpa along with his brother, Nicholas. He was currently attending classes to fulfill his dream of becoming a certified firefighter and working full time as one in a larger town.

March 18, 2011 while training at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, Shon earned the Civilian Service Medal from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. Shon and a friend were sitting on the beach when they saw two of their other friends running toward them saying there is a person in the water needing help. Shon, upon hearing this, immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation and ran toward the person. Once there he noticed no one was trying to help, so he took charge and got one of his friends to help him perform CPR and other life saving techniques. Shon went above and beyond the call of duty in attempting to save a life.

Shon loved riding dirt bikes and had no fear while riding them-a trait he acquired from his dad. Also, some of his favorite times were riding with his brothers and cousins every Mother’s Day. He always managed to be the muddiest. He loved to squirrel hunt and shoot his firearms-hobbies also taught to him by his dad.

Everyone who met and knew Shon enjoyed his pleasant, fun- loving personality. No matter what he was doing, he could always manage to make the people around him laugh. Shon enjoyed hanging out with all his friends and cousins, and they enjoyed him. Recently Shon was proud of his new title “Favorite Uncle.” He was a wonderful, cheerful, and helpful big brother to Wyatt. Shon was a very compassionate youg man. He always went the extra mile with gifts or surprises on every birthday, Mother’s Day, and anniversary of his parents’ marriage.

Shon was preceded in death by his father Jon Wayne Robinson and his paternal grandparents Helen and Carles Wayne Robinson. Shon is survived by his mother Sheri and two brothers Nicholas and Wyatt. Also, he is survived by his maternal grandparents Bob and Rosemary Hook and nephew Honza Robinson.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL. Dr. Ed Hollis will officiate.
