Ann F. Peckinpaugh, age 105, a resident of Vienna, Illinois and a former resident of Herrin, Illinois and California from 1937-1981, passed away Saturday morning, August 3, 2013 at 6:35 a.m. at the Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna.
Ann was born on October 13, 1907 in Johnson County, Illinois. She was the fourth of twelve children born to Elmer Herald Stewart and Lina Isabell (Threet) Stewart.
Ann was united in marriage to Harland E. Peckinpaugh on February 15, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Beverly Wery of Green Bay, Wisconsin, seven step-grandchildren, several step-great grandchildren.
Ann is also survived by two brothers, Bain (Joan) Stewart of Vienna, and Virgil (Lavone) Stewart of Dodge Center, Minnesota, a sister-in-law, Frances Stewart of Vienna and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Ann was preceded in death by five sisters, Helen Rose Kerley, Waynie Sullivan, Ivern Stewart, Edith Sharp and Lorene Craig and four brothers, Paul, J.C., Dale and Earl Stewart.
Ann attended the Illinois State Nurse’s School in Dixon, Illinois. She worked for many years as a registered nurse in California. She had also worked as a real estate broker.
Ann was initiated a member of the Reseda, California Chapter #505 Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as Worthy Matron.
Ann was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed gardening and was an ardent traveler, having traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Ann cherished the time she spent with family and friends.
Eastern Star rites will be accorded at 12:00 noon Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. A funeral service will immediately follow. Dr. Ed Hollis will officiate.
Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
