Standoff concludes Tuesday evening

The Vienna Times received word from the Johnson County Sheriff Department just before 6:00 p.m. this evening that the 76-hour standoff with police near Vienna ended peacefully Tuesday evening. The news has been confirmed by Illinois State Police at Ullin.

Two Johnson County men have been arrested. They will be charged with aggravated assault by threatening a police office with a firearm, according to Johnson County State’s Attorney Tambra Cain-Sharp. No one was injured.
