Morris to operate reopened Foreman Depot

Phil-MorrisIn a cooperative effort with Johnson County commissioners and Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Vienna has reopened the Foreman Depot Tourism Center at the city park.

Phil Morris will operate the Depot five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Additional operating hours may be added later.

Morris is an experienced welcome center operator, historian and entertainer.

A native of Johnson County, Morris operated the welcome center located on Interstate 57 in Union County for many years. He was owner of the former Kornbread Junction that was destroyed by fire earlier this spring.

“Morris’ knowledge of Johnson County and tourist attractions in the area will be a great asset to the welcome center,” said Vienna mayor Jon Simmons.

“Johnson County and Vienna has so much to offer,” Simmons said. “And, we needed someone that is able to share that information with visitors and travelers.”

The Depot will, once again, serve as the office for the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce. Morris will assist the chamber while operating the welcome center. Morris served as the chamber director several years ago.
