Grace Anderson – Obituary

Grace Anderson, 91, a resident of the Glendale community, passed away Monday evening, July 8, 2013, at 6:19 p.m. at the Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare.

She was born Oct. 13, 1921, the eighth of ten children born to Flavius and Kathryn Hertter Palmer.

She was united in marriage to Wallace Anderson on Oct. 17, 1938.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1990.

Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Benard of the Glendale community; three grandchildren, Linda (Ivan) Chapman of Simpson, Mike (Lisa) Benard of the Glendale community and Lisa Aly of Salem, Ind.; ten great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mildred (Bill) Christoff of New Albany, Ind. and Lillian (the late Ben) Anderson of Decatur; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by her four brothers and five sisters. She was the last surviving sibling of her family.  Having attained the age of 91 years, she had the distinction of having lived longer than any of her 9 brothers and sisters.

She was a homemaker.  She cared for her three grandchildren in their pre-school days.  Making her home with her daughter since 2009, she enjoyed being a part of fun-filled family gatherings.

She was also a former member of the Home Bureau. She had served as a 4-H leader. In her spare time, Grace enjoyed completing crossword puzzles.

She was a member of the Glendale United Methodist Church, where she attended as long as her health permitted.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 12, 2013, at noon at the Glendale United Methodist Church.  The Rev. David Faulkner will officiate.

Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Golconda.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. till noon Friday at the church.
