Edward Franklin (Ed) Simmons – Obituary

Edward Franklin (Ed) Simmons, 80 of Del City, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at his home in Del City. He was born on February 26, 1933 in Vienna, Illinois to the late Ed Simmons and Robbie Marie Ridenhower Simmons.

Ed was raised in Vienna where he graduated from the Vienna High School. He joined the United States Air Force and served in Korea and Japan for 4 years.

Ed married Georgia Louise Eastman on November 3, 1956 in Mannsville, Oklahoma.

He lived in Springfield, Illinois before moving to Lindsay, Oklahoma where he worked for the Western Company as a mechanic for 20 years. In 1978 Ed moved to Del City and worked for OG&E. He was affiliated with the Baptist faith and enjoyed being a mechanic, traveling in the RV, square dancing, being with family and playing jokes on friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Georgia Louise Simmons, Del City, Oklahoma, children Janet Scheer and husband Barry, Corpus Christi, Texas, Jo Nortier and husband Tim, Alexandria, Louisiana, grandchildren Emily Scheer and Lauren Nortier, sisters Martha Perkins, Marion, Illinois, 
Susie Trovillion and husband Lowell, Grantsburg, Illinois, special friends John Geddes, Jo Geddes Horton and family.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson; Neal Thomas Scheer.

Burial was held Friday, July 5, 2013, at Mannsville Cemetery, Mannsville, Oklahoma.
