Robert L. “Bobby” Tannehill – Obituary

Robert L. “Bobby” Tannehill, 64, of  Herrin, Illinois, passed away Thursday evening, June 27, 2013 at 10:00 p.m. at his home.

Bob was born February 27, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Albert Tannehill and Virginia (Schurheck) Tannehill.

Bob was united in marriage to S. Pauline (Hastings) Tannehill on June 21, 1987 in Vienna, Illinois. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Kerry M. Tannehill of Herrin, IL, a sister, Kathy Sullivan of Chandler, AZ, a sister-in-law, Mildred Thorne of Vienna, IL, friends  Christi and Darand Williams and their girls of Vienna, IL and nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two stepchildren, Terry Tellor and Cindy Tellor and an infant brother, Terry Tannehill.

Bob was a 1976 graduate of the Ottawa High School. He was employed as a group leader for 18 years at Maytag in Herrin, IL.  He also had delivered the Southern Illinoisan newspaper for over 20 years.  Bob appreciated the leadership of Mark Romanowski, district manager for circulation for the Southern Illinoisan.

Bob was an ASA & IHSA referee/umpire for over 20 years. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge #50 and the Marion Senior Citizens organization. Bob was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls.

Bob is of the Christian faith. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and sports, especially softball and basketball.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, July 1, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL.

Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
