J. Michael “Mike” Cook – Obituary

J. Michael “Mike” Cook, 57, of rural Ozark, Illinois, passed away Thursday morning, June 20, 2013, at 2:01 a.m. at Baptist Health Center in Paducah, Kentucky.

Mike was born October 23, 1955 in Greenville, Kentucky. He was the son of James Walter “Jimmy” and Nola Mae (Bivin) Cook.

Mike was united in marriage to Louise J. (McGee) on May 15, 1977 in Murray, Kentucky. She survives.

A Sister – Ettie (Joey) Parker of Burns, TN
His aunt – Lola Rhea Cook of Central City, KY
A Double First Cousin – Felecia (Steve) Campbell of Sacramento, KY
A host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives & many dear friends

Mike was a 1973 graduate of Muhlenberg Central High School. He received his Bachelor Degree in Accounting from Murray State University in 1977. Mike has been employed as an accountant for Westlake Chemical in Calvert City, KY since 1977. Mike also had a love of the land and enjoyed raising horses, cattle and other livestock on his farm near Ozark. Mike enjoyed training horses and was a member of the mule riders association. He also made hand forged custom knives.

Mike was a devoted family man. He was a caring, compassionate, and excellent husband, father, brother and friend.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, June 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Interment will be in the Cherry Grove Church of Christ Cemetery in the Weir community in Muhlenberg County Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, Illinois.
