The Vienna City Council met in regular season Wednesday, May 1, at city hall. Newly elected officials were sworn in prior to the business meeting.
Vienna mayor Jon Simmons took the oath of office for a second term.
Incoming council members, pictured above from left, Alan Racey, Chesley Williams and James Evans were seated at the meeting.
This will be Racey’s first term on the council. Williams and Evans have previously served, Williams as mayor, and Evans as councilman.
Another new face in city government, Aleatha Wright, pictured left, was also sworn in by the mayor as the new city clerk, replacing Virginia Monroe.
Monroe and three outgoing councilmen, Bill Elliot, Greg Gordon and Danny Rockwell, were recognized by the council for their years of service to the city.
Elliot, bottom left, served on the council for 28 years.
Other council members include Kevin Breeden, Richard Owen and Tammy Carraker.
