Desiree M. Duty-Street, 29, of New Burnside, passed away Sunday morning, May 5, 2013, at 10:29 a.m. at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, Ind.
Desiree was born May 30, 1983, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Michael Gregory Duty and Beverly Jean Kelly Duty.
Desiree was united in marriage to Matt Street on March 31, 2009 in New Burnside, Illinois. He survives.
She is survived by two sons, Dakota Street and Braden Street both at home; her mother and stepfather, Beverly and Steve Vinson of Vienna; a brother, Canaan Duty and Melissa Rising of Cypress; her paternal grandmother, Melba Duty of Muldrow, Okla.; her maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Vera and Dewayne Pointer of East Prairie, Mo.; her mother-in-law, Tammy King, and her husband Nathan, of New Burnside; her father-in-law, Ray Street, and his wife Nancy, of Ozark; a nephew, Zane Duty; a brother-in-law, Jake Street and Sarah Shipley; a sister-in-law and dear friend, Lindsey Plummer; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends, including her dear and special friends, Jessica Warren Craig and Ashley Broom Friedrich.
In addition to her father, Desiree was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Claude Duty and Shirley Kelly.
Desiree was a 2001 graduate of Vienna High School, where she was selected as prom queen as well as homecoming queen. Desiree was continuing her education at Southeastern Illinois College, where she was studying forensic science and psychiatric studies. She maintained a straight A average and was on the Dean’s List.
Desiree also loved being a full-time mom and homemaker. She was a very talented young lady and enjoyed a wide variety of crafts, including: sewing, knitting, making crocheted items, woodworking, glass working, creating her own perfumes, candles and soaps. She was widely known as the “rainy day cupcake lady” and is remembered for her exceptional slumber parties.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, May 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Jeff Treat will officiate.
Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, east of Ozark.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
