This Easter marks the 77th consecutive year people will gather for a sunrise service atop Bald Knob Mountain in Alto Pass, IL.
The recently restored 111’ tall Cross is celebrating its 50th birthday, having been completed in 1963.
The visitors’ center will open at 5 a.m. providing coffee and donuts. The sunrise service will begin at just after 6:30 a.m.
There will be special music by Final Journey of Anna and Gary Cox of Sparta with accompanist Tammy Gurley Washer. Steven McKeown, Senior Pastor of Christian Life Center, Herrin, IL will deliver the message.
Visitors will need to provide their own seating (lawn chairs, blankets, etc.) as the service is being relocated away from the bleacher area. Due to an expected large turnout, please plan to arrive early.
