Max Blasdel, 84, of Grand Chain, IL, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Blasdel was a member of the Ohio Chapel church in Grand Chain, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge #660, and he was a First mate for Valley Line Tow Boat Co. He was a master craftsman and took a great deal of pride in his wood working and he was an avid gardener. He was married to Louise Mathis Blasdel on December 31, 1951.
Mr. Blasdel is survived by his wife, Louise Mathis Blasdel; two daughters, Donna Gail Holhubner and husband Ed, of Sedalia, MO; Kathy Jo Ryan of Grand Chain; two grandsons, Chris and Lucas Holhubner; one granddaughter, Betsy Ryan; two great grandsons, Tommy and Jonas Holhubner; one great granddaughter, Lindsey Holhubner; one brother, Ray Blasdel of Reidland, KY; one sister, Lois Wood of Metropolis, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mabel Badgley Blasdel
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, January 1st, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, IL, with Masonic Rites being conducted at 7:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be Wednesday morning, January 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Heisner officiating. Interment will follow in the Ohio Chapel Cemetery in Grand Chain, IL.
