Kathleen Marjorie Ritchey – Obituary

Kathleen Marjorie Ritchey, 91, a resident of Cypress, IL and a former resident of Anna, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at 7:40 AM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Kathleen was born April 17, 1921 in the West Eden community in Johnson County Illinois.  She was the daughter of Roy William and Marie (Karraker) Hartline.

Kathleen was united in marriage to Maurice Ritchey on October 9, 1940 in Charleston, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on April 26, 1998.

Survivors include:

Her children – Phyllis Capron, and her husband Jerry, of Cypress, IL

Sharon Oliver, and her husband Carrol, of Cypress, IL

Kent Ritchey, and his wife Anita, of Marion, IL

In addition to her parents and husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Cheryl Capron, and a brother, Harlan Hartline.

Kathleen was a 1938 graduate of Dongola High School.  Along with her husband, Kathleen owned and operated a general merchandise store in Cypress for many years.  Later, they operated a feed store in Anna and Kathleen also worked at the G.C. Murphy Co. variety store as well as Preston’s Hallmark Gift Shop, both in Anna, IL.

Kathleen was a member of the Anna Church of Christ.  She was responsible for the flower fund for many years.  Kathleen also demonstrated a spirit of encouragement by sending greeting cards to friends and neighbors through the years.

Maurice and Kathleen enjoyed watching their son, Kent, play baseball during his youth sports career. They also loved to camp and travel, especially along with Kathleen’s brother and sister-in-law Harlan and Doris Hartline.  Maurice and Kathleen visited all 48 contiguous states during their travels.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2012, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Brother John Shelton will officiate.  Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Cypress, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Friday from 11 AM – 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
