William C. “Bill” Welch, age 70, a resident of Vienna, and a former resident of Waukegan, IL and Antioch, IL, passed away Friday afternoon, November 9, 2012, at 4:50 PM at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion, Illinois.
Bill was born October 27, 1942 in Waukegan, Illinois. He was the son of William J. & Josephine G. (Paulson) Welch.
Bill was united in marriage to Barbara A. (Waline) Krueger on October 27, 2001 in Antioch, Illinois. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons: Steven M. Welch of Gallatin, TN; Jeffrey A. & Buffy Welch of Pleasant Prairie, WI; and, Todd J. Welch of Hendersonville, TN.
Four stepchildren: Joseph E. & Lisa Krueger of Elmhurst, IL; Debra A. Krueger of Gurnee, IL; James W. & Annie Krueger of Paddock Lake, WI; and, Peggy M. & Kenny Krueger of Gurnee, IL.
Several grandchildren & great grandchildren, a sister, Susan M. Hickman of Bremen, IN, a brother, Robert J. & Susan Welch of Orlando, FL, a sister-in-law, Charlotte Jackson of Marquette, MI and several nieces & nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William J. Welch and Josephine G. Welch Barker; and a stepson, Patrick S. Krueger.
Bill was a graduate of the Waukegan Township High School, class of 1960. He was employed as a motor coach driver for various companies in northern Illinois and locally had worked as a driver for Southern Seven Head Start and the Vienna Grade School.
Bill was a member and chaplain of Vienna Masonic Lodge # 150 AF&AM. He was also a member of the Reevesville Community Church. Bill loved music and played the drum as well as the French horn as a member of the Scarlet Knights drum and bugle corps. He also had served as the music director for the Fox Valley Raiders drum and bugle corps.
In his spare time, Bill enjoyed internet surfing and watching professional football. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 12, 2012, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
Masonic rites will be accorded at 7 p.m. by Vienna Masonic Lodge # 150 AF&AM. Funeral services will immediately follow the masonic rites.
A service will also be conducted on Monday, November 19, 2012, in Waukegan, IL.
Interment will be in the Warren Cemetery in Gurnee, Illinois.
