Tuesday morning crash injures one

Illinois State Police responded a two-vehicle crash that happened at approximately 7:55 a.m. Tuesday morning, Nov. 13, at the intersection of Rt. 146 and Reevesville Road, in front of Shawnee Correctional Center, in eastern Johnson County.

A passenger car traveling north on Reevesville Road, driven by Christian Covey, 18, failed to stop at the intersection, crossing into the path of a pickup truck traveling east of 146.

The driver of the silver Dodge pickup, Jessica Powers, 34, was transported by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion with non-life threatening injuries. Covey was not injured.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the Covey stated that his brakes failed.
