Stanley M. Bland, 64, a resident of Karnak, IL and a former resident of Bethalto, IL. passed away Tuesday afternoon November 20, 2012 at 1:20 p.m. at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, IL.
Stanley was born January 29, 1948 in Pearl, IL. He was the son of Ernest “Spud” Bland and Mary (Taylor) Bland.
Stanley was united in marriage to Cheri L. (Clark) on August 4, 1984 in Bethalto, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include: His Children- Michael Gibson of East Alton, IL, Kenneth Paul Gibson, Stephen Gibson of Wood River, IL, Kenneth Brady of Liberty, IL and Tambra Cain of Vienna, IL., grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers and sisters.
In addition to his parents Stanley was preceded in death by son, Robert Gibson.
Stanley was an US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam, he was also a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the VFW in Alton, IL.
He had worked as a groundskeeper for over 30 years at the Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
Stanley and Cheri enjoyed playing on Dart Leagues together. He was a loving and devoted family man.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
