Reevesville News

By Lee Roy Stafford

Hi everybody on a nice Sunday morning here in Reevesville after a beautiful Saturday. The leaves are falling so most of us here are raking or mulching leaves.

I have another great-grandson Levi Ryan Murrie weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces and 19 inches long. The proud parents are Misty and Jessie Murrie. Misty brought him to church last Sunday and he is a cute little guy. Definitely favors his mother.

Oct. 21 would have been my mother’s 92nd birthday had she lived. Even though she’s been gone 11 years I still think of her almost every day.

It was good to talk to David Boyd on the phone this past week. He is a Cardinal fan and myself a Giant fan so we had a good conversation while we watched the ballgame on T.V. Happy birthday David and may God give you many more.

Old Sam Johnson goes to his doctor complaing of aches and pains all over his body. After a thorough examination, the doctor gives him a clean bill of health.

“Sam, you’re in excellent shape for an 85 year old man, but I’m not a magician. I can’t make you any younger,” says the doctor.

“Who asked you to make me younger?” says Sam. “You just make sure I get older!” A smart old man.

A big get-well to George Troutt. When you get well we might go over to Calvert City and start tapping those big furnace’s again! Just kidding George. I don’t think I could do it again.

Remember Halloween comes Oct. 31, so buy some trick-or-treat candy for the little goblins.

Reevesville Community Church will not have their Halloween party this year. They decided to skip a year. Maybe next year.

A pastor preached a moving sermon on the powerful results of the prayer of faith. He then led the congregation in a closing prayer.

A small boy whistled loudly disrupting the pastor’s prayer. Everyone was stunned and his mother was embarrassed and horrified. When asked why he whistled in church, the little boy answered, “I’ve never been able to whistle so I asked God to teach me. I tried it and it worked!” Maybe we all need the little boy’s faith!

This week’s Bible quiz: After a warning in a dream, who became a fugitive with his wife and child? For the answer, read Exodus 2:11-15.

Remember: There are two kinds of people who don’t say much. Those who are quiet and those who talk alot.

Here’s wishing a happy 70th birthday to my good friend Bill Welch. May God give you many more. Also I wish you and Barb a happy wedding anniversary.

Mr. Welch has cancer and is going through his chemo in Nashville, Tenn. I think his chemo is about finished so let’s remember him in our prayers.

See you in church.

Until next week.
