Single vehicle accident injures Buncombe woman

A single vehicle crash Friday afternoon on Pleasant Grove Road required the driver to be airlifted to an Evansville hospital with serious injuries. The incident happened approximately four miles west of Buncombe.

According to Johnson County sheriff deputy Scott Sparks, Conny Cunningham, 31, of Buncombe was ejected from the pickup truck she was driving as it “rolled over several times” on the gravel road. Cunningham was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time.

A local resident, Casey White discovered Cunningham and the truck as she travelled home Friday afternoon.

Cunningham was found in tall weeds nearly thirty feet from the vehicle. It is not known how long Cunningham had been laying on the side of the road.

Cunningham was traveling west, down a hill, when she lost control of the vehicle. The truck left the roadway on the right side causing it to overturn several times before landing in a ditch on the opposite side of the road. The truck was registered to Jones’ Hydroblast of Royalton.

Johnson County ambulance personnel stabilized Cunningham before transporting her to the Buncombe Grade School, where an Air Evac ambulance helicopter was waiting to transport her to Evansville.

No citations have been issued at this time.
