Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police responded to a motorcycle accident on U.S. Route 45 South at 4:18 p.m. Monday, August 27. The crash happened approximately 1.5 miles south of Ballowe Church Road, south of Vienna.
Michele C. Pender, 42, of Herrin was traveling south on Rt. 45 when she lost control of the bike and slid into a guardrail. Pender was pronounced dead at the scene by Johnson County Coronor David Rockwell.
