Tonya D. Altenberger, 46, of Buncombe, died Wednesday evening, July 11, 2012 at 7:36 p.m. at her home.
Tonya was born on June 25, 1966, in Santa Ana, Calif., the daughter of Daniel and Linda Rhoades Spears. They reside in Paulton.
Other survivors include her significant other for many long years, Lance “Little Feller” Mighell of Buncombe; a daughter, Hope Sauerbrunn of Vienna; a brother, Rodney Boyer of Benton, La.; three sisters, Marilyn Benton of Decatur, Shari Weaber of Decatur and Amy Spears of Decatur; a grandmother, Mary Spears of Decatur; aunts, uncles and many dear friends.
Tonya was preceded in death by her son, Joey Altenberger; her father, Ronald Boyer; her grandfather, Gerald Spears; and her grandparents, Henry and Frances Rhoades.
Tonya was a high school graduate of Moweaqua High School. Tonya was an RN and had a calling for working in nursing homes. She also enjoyed hummingbirds and her garden and loved canning.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Dr. Ron Ferguson officiated.
