Robert L. Robinson, 80, of Simpson, and formerly of Princeville, Ill., died at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012, at Willowbrook Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was surrounded by his family.
Robert was born on May 17, 1932, in Princeville, the son of Floyd Robinson and Lillian Mitchell Robinson.
He married Mary Lu Jones, and they had two boys, Albert Jay and Robert Lee; and two girls, Deborah Lynn and Brenda Kay.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Brenda.
Surviving are two sons, Albert (Dawn) of Chillicothe, Mo., and Robert (Kim) of Speer; and one daughter, Deborah L. Schmidt of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are one sister, Wanda (Ray) Ely of Deltona, Fla.; three brothers, William (Linda) of Princeville, Richard (Kim) of Round Mountain, Texas, and Lloyd (Pat) of Chillicothe; five grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.
Robert served as a Navy Seabee and retired from Caterpillar after 30 years of employment.
He was a former member of Masonic Lodge No. 360 and found fellowship at the Glendale United Methodist Church.
During the last six months of his life he relocated to Houston, Texas.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 9, at 2 p.m. at Glendale United Methodist Church in Simpson. The Rev. Del Pancake officiated.
