Drought conditions continue

After months of no measurable rain in the Vienna area, Tuesday evening's rainfall was a welcomed sight. This rain gauge, located on North 6th Street in Vienna, collected one inch of rain during the event while many other parts of the county reported no measurable amounts.

The City of Vienna has issued a water conservation notice until further notice.

“Even though there is no immediate threat to the current supply, the request to conserve water is a preventative measure,” said city superintendent Gene McNeely.  “The city’s water supply is lower than normal for this time of year.”

McNeely said the current levels are averages normally seen in July.

All customers are requested to refrain from watering their lawns, flower gardens and any unnecessary use of water such as washing cars.
