Vienna Eagles take tough loss against Christopher

By Ryan Wright

On Saturday, Jan. 26, the Vienna Eagles traveled to Christopher to take on the Bearcats.

Tip-off began with Christopher scoring two baskets quick to put them up 4-0.

However, the game stayed close mainly because senior Nolan Dahncke went off by scoring 12 consecutive points to keep the Eagles in the game making the score 12-15 with 1:52 left in the first quarter.

Junior Gabe Snell was able to get in on the action after hitting a floater in the lane and a jump shot seconds later to end the first quarter with Christopher leading over the Eagles 19-16.

The second quarter started with Christopher knocking down a three-pointer, but the Eagles were able to answer with sophomore Mathew Naese hitting a three of his own to make the score 20-27, Christopher still leading.

The second quarter went quickly by with a few big plays, coming with less then a minute left, with Snell getting a steal and basket and senior Ben Daine drilling a three-pointer to end the second quarter 28-37, Christopher leading.

The third quarter started with junior Dalton Byrd scoring back to back possessions trimming the lead 32-39 with 6:07.

Junior Justin Casey was able to hit a three-pointer behind the arc with 1:32 left in the third quarter, but Christopher was still answering so they were able to hold onto a comfortable lead ending the third quarter leading 52-44 over the Eagles.

The fourth quarter was highly intensified with both teams going back and forth, but Christopher took over winning the game with a final score 70-53.
