Jeanne Ann Elam, age 58, of rural Pope County, IL passed away at her home on January 29, 2018.
She was born January 23, 1960 in Marion, IL. The daughter of Curtis and Genevieve Fairless. On September 29, 1990 she married Joe Elam at Taylor United Methodist Church near Vienna, IL. He survives.
Other survivors include her mother, Genevieve Fairless of Vienna, IL; one brother, Bill (his wife Kitty) Fairless of Vienna, IL; two nephews, David Fairless (his wife Casey), Bobby Fairless; one niece, Becky Fairless; great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Fairless.
Jeanne was a 1978 graduate of Vienna High School and a 1984 graduate of Murray State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. She worked her entire nursing career caring for countless area veterans at the Marion, IL VA Center.
She grew up on the family farm where she learned the value of hard work as well as the joys and trials such a life brings. Jeanne followed her mothers footsteps to become a great cook. She was famous for her fabulous dinners whether for a family birthday, Christmas or feeding the huge crowds at her and Joe’s 4th of July celebrations.
Her medical expertise helped many family members through some very trying times.
A celebration of life for Jeanne will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, IL. Rev. Lee Duncan will conduct the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Golconda, IL. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home.
