VGS cheerleaders state bound

The Vienna Grade School cheerleaders are headed for state competition for the second year in a row.  The 18 member team competed at the Benton, Illinois ICCA Invitational Cheerleading Competition on Saturday, Dec. 2. The team received a score high enough to qualify to compete at state competition. The cheerleaders will travel to Springfield to compete against other junior high cheer teams from throughout the state of Illinois on Jan. 7. The competition is held at the Prairie State Convention Center. The cheerleaders competed again, Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Mt. Vernon ICCA competition where they received another state qualifying score. The athletes will compete in one final invitational tournament on Sunday, Dec. 10 in Pinckneyville. The cheerleaders are coached by Staci Shafer and Stephanie Carrick.
