Loretta Ann Schuchardt, age 84 years, a resident of the Glendale community, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, November 7, 2017, at 12:35 P.M. at the Shawnee Rose Care Center in Harrisburg, Illinois.
She was the daughter of Walter and Pearl (Walter) Schuchardt. Loretta was born October 5, 1933 near Glendale. She attended the Glendale Corner School, graduating in 1948. She then attended the Pope County Community High School, graduating in 1952 and the Apostolic Bible Institute, graduating in 1957.
Loretta lived in Chicago for many years. She was employed by the Equitable Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1993. Following her retirement, Loretta was the caregiver to a stroke patient for a number of years.
Loretta returned to Pope County in June 1999; the home she loved and where her roots were. Her vacations and long weekends were always spent at home during her working career.
Loretta was a member of the Glendale Apostolic Church. She had a deep love for the Lord. Loretta was a Sunday school teacher for many years while residing in Chicago and attending the Northside United Pentecostal Church.
Loretta was quiet, unassuming and kind hearted. She had an incredible stamina and a real heart to help people. She enjoyed genealogy, crafts, reading, and yard work. She was a hard worker and had been avidly recycling since 1980.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Karen Sue Schuchardt.
Survivors include: a brother – Donald (Mary Alice) Schuchardt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a sister – Mary Louise (Eugene) Yonts of Evansville, Indiana; 2 nephews – Ray Yonts and Randy Yonts both of Evansville, Indiana; 2 nieces – Janet Rhoades of Plano, Texas and Lynn Hughett of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; 6 great nieces; a great nephew; a dear lifelong friend, Margaret Enfusse of Whitesburg, Kentucky; as well as a host of other relatives and many special friends.
A service honoring the life of Loretta A. Schuchardt will be held Monday afternoon, November 13, 2017, at 1 PM at the Glendale Apostolic Church, 453 Illinois State Highway 145 North, Simpson, IL.
Pastor Harold Canup, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery.
Visitation will be conducted Monday, November 13, 2017, from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Glendale Apostolic Church.
