Carrie I. McBride – Obituary

Carrie I. McBride, age 91 years, a former resident of Vienna, passed away Thursday evening, June 22, 2017, at 10:13 PM at Manor Court of Carbondale.

Carrie was born January 16, 1926 in the Oak Grove Community in rural Johnson County. She was the daughter of Theopolis “Dolph” Jackson and Gertrude M. (Litaker) Jackson.

On January 19, 1944, Carrie was united in marriage to Bertis McBride at the Vienna United Methodist Church parsonage. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2014.

Carrie is survived by: her children – Vera L. Bedwell of rural Goreville (the Pulley’s Mill community), Betty J. Wilson of Carterville, Garry L. (Mollie) McBride of Crossville, Tennessee, and Roger (Mark Leonard) McBride of Wakefield, Kansas; 5 grandchildren – Jason L. (Sheila) McBride, Laurie (Ron) Turner, Désirée (Taylor) Arnold, Amanda K. Wood and Charles S. (Heather) Wood; 7 great grandchildren – Dustin T. Turner, Nathan Turner, Joshua McBride, Parker Ryan Wood, Zachary Turner, Cydnee Wood, and Kristen McBride; a sister – Ella Marie (Ralph) Ford of Vienna; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carrie was preceded in death by: 2 brothers – Eugene “Gene” Jackson and Melvin Jackson; 2 sisters – Esta Stonum and Louise Cavitt.

Carrie was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Vienna as long as her health permitted her to attend. Carrie had been a member of the church choir.

Carrie enjoyed reading and flower gardening. She dearly loved her family and particularly cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A service honoring the life of Carrie McBride will be conducted Wednesday morning, June 28, 2017, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Dr. Ed Hollis will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, June 27, 2017, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be: Roger McBride, Mark Leonard, Jason McBride, Dustin Turner, Nathan Turner, and Charles Wood.
