Dorothy A. “Dot” Sheff Miles – Obituary

Dorothy A. “Dot” Sheff Miles, age 45 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away Monday evening, May 15, 2017, at 6:20 PM at her home.

Dorothy was born August 2, 1971 in Alton, Illinois. She was the second of four children born to Paul Melvin Sheff and Helen Annie (Gegg) Sheff.

On June 26, 2015, Dorothy was united in marriage to Curtis Miles at the Vienna First United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by: a daughter – Haven Renee Test of Vienna; 3 stepchildren – Wyatt, Amanda, and Lindsey Miles all of Vienna; a sister – Brenda (her husband, Robert) Workman of Harrisburg; a brother – Paul (his wife, Angel) Sheff, Jr.; nieces – Jessica, Kaylee, Teresa, and Hailey; a great niece – Emily; a sister-in-law – Debi Miles of Dallas, Texas; a brother-in-law – Gary Miles of Roseburg, Oregon; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother – Joe Sheff and an infant daughter – Dakota Leann Shoemaker.

Dorothy was a graduate of the Carrier Mills High School. She had worked in fast food service and spent a number of years working at McDonalds restaurant in Vienna. Additionally, Dorothy was employed by Addus Home Healthcare Service. Since December 2015, Dorothy has worked in assembly at Aisin Manufacturing in Marion.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, spending time with her beloved canine companions, watching sporting events and keeping up with family and friends through Facebook. Dorothy cherished time spent with her daughter, Haven.

Dorothy was of the Christian faith.

A service honoring the life of Dorothy Sheff Miles will be conducted Saturday afternoon, May 20, 2017, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Brian Trambley will officiate.

Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.

Visitation will be conducted from 11 AM – 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
