Danny Ray Staton, 55, of Metropolis, IL, passed away Sunday evening, February 5, 2017 at 7:38 p.m. at Massac Memorial Hospital.
Danny was born March 17, 1961. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and was an aviation mechanic. He was later a truck driver having worked for G & D and TMC trucking companies. Danny was a member of the Messianic Home Fellowship; he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and he loved Western and War movies. Danny graduated from Century High School in 1979; he and Sheryl Merchant were united in marriage in 1983.
Danny is survived by his wife, Sheryl; three sons, Daniel, David and Dustin Staton of Metropolis; his mother, Georgia VanMeter Staton of Metropolis; one sister, Robin Thompson of Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Asia, Mathew, Michael, Landon, Chloe, Kaleb and Chavah; Daughters-in-law Eva and Dakota.
Mr. Staton was preceded in death by his father, John Staton, Jr. in 2010; grandparents, Melvin and Stella VanMeter, and John, Sr. and Libby Staton.
Services for Mr. Danny Staton will be Thursday morning, February 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak with Bill Cloud, Gary Riley, Tony Robinson and Hollisa Alewine conducting the service. Interment will follow at Anderson Cemetery near Boaz, IL, in Massac County with full Military Graveside Honors accorded by the United States Air Force Burial Detail Team and area Veterans. The family will recieve friends Wednesday evening at the Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
