VGS boys win invitational tournament

The Vienna Grade School boys’ basketball team traveled to Johnston City to play in their invitational tournament on Saturday, Jan. 21.

In the first game, VGS played Crab Orchard and won with a score of 65-34.

In the championship game, VGS played Hardin County and, after a slow start, came out on top 62-47.

VGS has placed second in the conference tournament, second in the NSH Round Robin tournament, and first in the JCJHS Invitational tournament.

VGS is the No. 1 seed in the regional tournament which began at 6 p.m. on Jan. 24 at VGS.

The Rams will try for their first regional title in 11 years.  The players on the team include Brendan Dahncke, Eli Wright, Skylar Blakenship, Kyle Harris, Lane Ross, Clay Fraser, Dawson Hill, Thomas Craig, Gordy Muckle, Josh Cherry, Dalton Nesler, Mason Kerley and Micah Harris.
