Lee Ann Merideth – Obituary

Lee Ann Merideth, age 48, a resident of Vienna and a former resident of Cypress, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, January 8, 2017, at 8:46 PM at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Lee Ann was born July 4, 1968 in Marion, Illinois. She was the daughter of Jack and Nancy L. (Racey) Merideth.

Lee Ann is survived by: her mother – Nancy Merideth and her dear friend Danny Penrod of Cypress; her father – Jack (his wife, Patty) Merideth of Harrisburg; her daughters – Sarah Deitz, Chloe’ Deitz and Abigail Deitz all of Vienna; a brother – Ben Merideth of Cypress; an aunt – Judy (her husband, Jim) Penrod of Metropolis; uncles – Joe Racey of Jacksonville and Donald Merideth of Decatur; as well as a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Lee Ann was a 1986 graduate of Vienna High School. She attended McKendree University and earned a Bachelors Degree in speech and communication with a minor in social work, graduating in 1991. She was a proud member of the McKendree Alumni Association.

Lee Ann was a devoted homemaker and cherished time spent with her daughters and taking care of her mother. She had also worked at the Murphysboro, Illinois Chamber of Commerce office. Lee Ann was the Cypress correspondent for the Vienna Times newspaper.

During her youth in Cypress, Lee Ann was a member of the Cypress United Methodist Church. She was later a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Shiloh. More recently, Lee Ann attended the Cypress United Methodist Church and Vienna First United Methodist Church. Lee Ann enjoyed volunteering at “Faith Alive” the Vienna Christian Ministerial Alliance thrift store. Lee Ann is fondly remembered as a “good Christian lady.”

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

A funeral service honoring the life of Lee Ann Merideth will be held Thursday morning, January 12, 2017, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Joe Richard and Pastor Kenny Baker will officiate. Burial will be in the Cypress Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be conducted Wednesday, January 11, 2017, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
