Shirley Ann Treloggen – Obituary

Shirley Ann Treloggen (née Overbey; formerly Garrett), age 89, a resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away on December 23, 2016. She was born July 18, 1927 in Johnston City, Illinois; daughter of John Muir and Maude (Evans) Overbey.

Mrs. Treloggen married Ira Mitchell Garrett on November 17, 1945, and later married Charles Treloggen on June 12, 1965 after Mr. Garrett’s death.

She is survived by two sons, Mitch Garrett (wife Bonita) of Simpson and Marlon Garrett of Pawnee, Illinois; one brother, Max Overbey (wife Mary) of Marion, six grandchildren: Brandon (wife Carissa; Rubicon, Wisconsin), Zachary (Vienna, Illinois), Tara (Saint Louis, Missouri), and Marley (Pawnee, Illinois), Leslie Keppler (husband Marc; Georgetown, Texas), William Davis (wife Jennifer; Kincaid, Illinois); and great grandchildren including Peter, Aislin, Benjamin, Camden, Audriana, and Austyn.

Mrs. Treloggen graduated from Johnston City Township High School in 1945, and worked at Sangamo Electric, as a homemaker, and later as a real estate agent in the Effingham area. She taught Sunday School and enjoyed golf and shopping.

She was a Baptist Christian and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Johnston City and the First Baptist Church of Effingham. She later attended Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, with a memorial service following presided by the Rev. William “Bud” McDannel. A graveside service will follow at the Lakeside Cemetery in Johnston City, Illinois, where she will be interred next to her husband, Ira Garrett.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Treloggen’s name can be made to the Hillview Healthcare Center Activity Fund, or to the organization of the donor’s choice. The family gives special thanks to the staff at Hillview Healthcare Center and Lourdes Hospice for their hard work and assistance during Mrs. Treloggen’s illness.
