Pope County Deer Festival is this weekend

The Golconda Rotary Club will present the 56th  Annual Pope County Deer Festival in Golconda, Nov. 16-19.

A community church service is planned at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Tim Green from Gospel Mission will open the service, followed by a musical program, led by Ken Barger.

The Rotary Club’s barbeque sales will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, along with the opening of the big tent. Barbeque will be prepared daily.

That evening at 6:30 p.m., will be the presentation of the baby photogenic, little mister and miss, junior miss pageant, miss and senior miss pageant.

The Pope County Deer Festival Queen contest is on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.

All listed events will take place under the big tent located on the courthouse lawn along with crafts, food, hunting supplies, clothing and more vendors.

Phil Morris and Ken Barger of the original Kornbread Junction Gang, along with other entertainers, will perform at noon up until the parade at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19.

The parade will run along Main Street in downtown Golconda.
