Richard Wade “Ricky” Champion, 57, a resident of rural Tunnel Hill, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016, at 7:26 PM at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois.
Ricky was born July 25, 1959 in Marion, Illinois. He was the youngest child born to Cecil and Thelma Louise (Farley) Champion.
Survivors include: 3 brothers – Herb (his wife, Patsy) Chance of Ozark, Cecil Ray Champion of Tunnel Hill, and Howard Louis Champion of Murphysboro; a sister – Patricia Kay Champion of Murphysboro; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by: 2 brothers – Glenn Edward Chance and Larry Russell Champion; and a sister – Carolyn Louise Soper.
Ricky had been employed as an engineer in the marine industry by Ingram Barge Company.
He was a skilled artisan and was known for his woodcarving and painting ability. Ricky enjoyed horseback riding. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, September 11, 2016, at 1:30 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Woodside Cemetery near Tunnel Hill.
Visitation will be held from 12 Noon – 1:30 PM Sunday afternoon at Bailey Funeral Home.
