Gary Raymond Manley – Obituary

Manley Gary PhotoGary Raymond Manley, 71, of Metropolis passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 1st at Aikins Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Shalom Renner and Rev. Jon Cockrel officiating. Burial will follow at the Anderson Cemetery in Boaz, IL.

Gary worked for 17 years as the custodian at Metropolis First United Methodist Church, Gary also loved his BBQ, and he loved cooking, competing, judging and mostly eating BBQ.

Gary is survived by his wife of thirty two years, Anita, ten children; Diana Steele (Steven Graves) of Vienna, IL, Seth and Sheila Smith of Vienna, IL, Scott and Regina Manley of Metropolis, Elizabeth and Ray Bayse of Emporia, VA, Candi Goins of Metropolis, Janita and Shannon Hinkle of Karnak, IL, Beaver and Rhonda Carnes of Cypress, IL, James and Angie Carnes of Metropolis, Bobby and Janie Little of Metropolis, and Mike and Connie Carnes of Brownfield, IL, twenty two grandchildren; Vincent Steele, Alyce Hannan, John Brackenbush, Stephen Manley, Christopher Manley, Timothy Manley, Chloe Higgins, Jeremy Goins, Isabella Byars, Jasman Byars, Brendon Hinkle, Michael, and Delondis Kendal, Aspen Carnes, Brandon Carnes, Danni Carnes, Misty Little, Robert Little, Tabatha McIntosh, Danny Miller Jr., Andrew Richardson, and Dakota Richardson. Mr. Manley was also survived by twenty four great grandchildren, one sister Peggy Greer and husband Jim of Belknap, and one brother, Denny Manley and his wife Shelly of Big Bay, IL , several nieces and nephews,

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Anita Manley, one son Gary Raymond Manley Jr. step son Jeffery Carnes, one great granddaughter Brooklyn Miller.

Visitation will be from 6:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Aikins Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
