Expect delays during road construction

Construction work on U.S. Hwy. 45 in Vienna is expected to begin as early as Monday, Aug. 22, that will likely create some traffic delays. The delays may be worse in the early morning hours and when the two Vienna Schools let out in the afternoons.

According to Illinois Department of Transportation’s District 9 Carbondale office, the 1.2 mile section of the road, from the Ill. Rt. 146 intersection to Interstate 24 north of Vienna, will be having patch work done. Once the patching is completed, the roadway will then be milled and resurfaced.

Weather permitting the project is expected to take three weeks. Local motorists may wish to use I-24 to detour around the construction zone.
