Doris Evans Baker – Obituary

 

Baker, Doris (picture) 2Doris Evans Baker, age 81 years, a former resident of Vienna passed away Monday evening, June 13, 2016, at 11:01 PM at the Metropolis Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Doris was born September 22, 1934 in Grantsburg, Illinois. She was the second of four children born to Marshall R. and Alice Loraine (Thompson) Evans.

Survivors include: 2 children – Tim (his wife, Cathy) Copley of Metropolis and Linda Hartford of Metropolis; 5 grandchildren – Justin Flora, Joel Copley, Andy Copley, Jeremy Copley and Jaqueline Evans-Tellor; 7 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law – Pam Flora of Vienna and a sister-in-law – Joanne Evans of Brookport.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by a son – William David “Dave” Flora; an infant sister – Clara Mae Evans and 2 brothers – Jack Evans and Andy Evans.

Doris had been employed in a manufacturing plant in Joliet for a number of years and had also worked as a restaurant waitress. Doris enjoyed home interior decorating and being a homemaker.

Doris was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

A memorial service honoring the life of Doris Evans Baker will be conducted Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2016, at 12 Noon at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. A private interment will be held at a later date in the Nelson Cemetery, east of Grantsburg.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 AM – 12 Noon Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home.

The preferred form of remembrances would be contributions to The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, 320 East Walnut Street, Suite A, Carbondale, IL 62901 or to Lourdes Hospice, P.O. Box 7100, Paducah, KY 42002-7100.
