Myrtle Marie Larrison, 91, of Metropolis, formerly of rural Karnak, in Massac County, passed away at 4:00 PM Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side. Myrtle was born January 6, 1925 in Cambria, IL, the daughter of John (Pap) Orange and Minnie (Mom) Vanhooser Orange. She married Warren Larrison in Metropolis on February 16, 1946. He passed away January 21, 1985.
She was a longtime member of Hillerman Missionary Baptist Church, and was an active member teaching Sunday School, working Bible School, and helping with other church activities until failing health. She was a caregiver at heart, and was always ready to assist with someone in need. Myrtle enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading. Her greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They, in turn, could not wait to get to Grandma’s house. They never got in trouble at Grandma’s.
Myrtle is survived by three children, Ray Larrison of Thompsonville, Linda Logeman and husband Roy John of Metropolis, John Larrison and wife Beth of Metropolis; seven grandchildren, Tracy Larrison of Chicago, Jerad (Sarah) Logeman of Metropolis, Kortena (Richard) Kulich of Metropolis, Misty (Tony) Windhorst of Metropolis, Tia (Nathan) Ralls of Marion, Hannah (Blake) Bullard of Metropolis and Ruth Comer of Metropolis; twelve great grand children; sister-in-law & dear friend Helen Larrison of Metropolis; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Warren, four brothers, Melvin, Paul, Carl and Wilbur Orange; one sister, Lottie Parker.
Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Marie Larrison will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 23, 2016 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. Rev. Ben Hottle will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Anderson Cemetery in Boaz.
The family will receive friends from 9 till 11 Monday morning at the funeral home. Pallbearers serving will be Tracy Larrison, Jerad Logeman, Richard Kulich, Tony Windhorst, Nathan Ralls and Blake Bullard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hillerman Baptist Church Building Fund, 4197 Hillerman Road, Grand Chain, IL 62941. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
