Howard “Big H” Schnaare – Obituary

Howard “Big H” Schnaare, 91, of Grand Chain, passed away at 4:02 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016 at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

Big H was a lifelong cattle and grain farmer in Pulaski County, he loved to get in his John Deere Gator and drive all over his farm checking the fences and making sure everything was ok and spending time with Lizzy Lynn his favorite pet dog.  Another favorite thing He loved to do was dance with his wife, Dorothy.  Howard and Dorothy Mann were united in marriage on February 5, 1946.  He was a member of the Hillerman Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Mann Schnaare; two sons, Steve Schnaare of Grand Chain, Dale and Tracy Schnaare of Grand Chain; one daughter, Cecelia Hankins of Metropolis; two sisters, Hazel Spindler of Metropolis and Martha Schnaare of Buncombe; three granddaughters, Tina O’nan of Salem, KY, Breezley Schnaare of Metropolis, Janet Hankins of Metropolis; one grandson, Danny Hankins of Paducah.

Big H was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Pearl Scheffer Schnaare; three brothers, Raymond, Cecil and Buddy Schnaare; one sister, Beth Rice.

Funeral services for Mr. Howard “Big H” Schnaare will be at 1:00 pm Monday, March 21, 2016 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.  Rev. Ben Hottle and Rev. Kenney Baker will be officiating.  Interment will follow at the Ohio Chapel Cemetery in Grand Chain.  The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 till 8 and Monday morning from 9 until the funeral hour of 1 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers honoring Mr. Scnnaare will be Will Bunting, Billy Russell, John Harp, Brad Lewis, Jacob Lewis and William Russell.
