Billy Parks, age 63 years, a resident of the Reevesville community, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, February 27, 2016, at 1:50 PM at his home.
Billy was born June 6, 1952 at the Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis. He was the son of Fred Parks, Jr. and Louella (Troutt) Parks.
Billy was formerly united in marriage to Charlotte Bullock Parks.
Survivors include: his mother – Louella Parks of the Reevesville community; his children – Christopher A. Parks of Columbus, Ohio, Patrick R. Parks and his wife Kassandra of Karnak, and Amber L. Parks of Metropolis; 6 grandchildren – Ronnie A. Corzine, Larissa J. Parks, Loralie J. Parks, Thomas J. Ethridge, Hayden M. Ethridge, and Isabella N. Parks; a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his father and 3 brothers – Chris Parks, Larry Parks and James E. Parks.
Billy was employed for 26 years by the Johnson County Highway Department. He retired in June 2011. Billy also was an independent heavy equipment operator.
Billy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is remembered for his love of cooking and his skill at frying fish.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 6, 2016, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Steve Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in the Reevesville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 PM – 7 PM Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
