Bill Burgandine, Sr., age 60 years, a resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, February 26, 2016, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Bill was born October 28, 1955 in Warren, Ohio. He was the 6th of 10 children born to James and Mary (Gann) Burgandine.
On January 7, 1989, Bill was united in marriage to Darlene Morris in Warren, Ohio. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2014.
Survivors include: his father – James Burgandine of Ohio; his sons – Bill (Heather) Burgandine, Jr. and Jon (Amy) Burgandine all of Vienna; his stepsons – Shawn (Angie) Harmon and Josh (Augusta) Harmon all of Vienna; 12 grandchildren – Cheyenne, Mikey, Alia, William, Tyler, Isabella, Kaiden, Karma, Bentley, Amelia, Colton, and Raylen; 5 sisters – Donna of Utah, Nancy of Colorado, Patty of Ohio, Sherry and Marva both of Mississippi; 3 brothers – Tommy of Utah, Jim of Colorado, and Gary of Ohio; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Burgandine, and a brother, Jonathan.
Bill was a graduate of McKinley High School in Niles, Ohio. He also completed a course in taxidermy and received C.D.L. training at Shawnee Community College.
Bill had been employed as a slot machine mechanic in Las Vegas, Nevada. He, along with his wife Darlene, provided private in-home health care services for many years. He had also been employed in the assembly department by Transcraft, Inc. in Anna and had worked at Timberline Fisheries near Marion. Bill currently worked as a butcher in the meat department of Sam’s IGA in Vienna.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed motorcycles and tinkering on a variety of projects. Bill had a deep interest in wolves and collected anything that was in any way associated with wolves. He was happiest, however, when he was surrounded by family and friends. Bill is remembered for his ability to brighten up any room with his personality. Bill was of the Christian faith and had attended Vienna First Baptist Church as well as Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Simpson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, 2016, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
Visitation will be conducted from 2 PM – 7 PM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
