William “Glenn” Patton, age 75 years, a resident of rural Grantsburg and a former resident of Carpentersville, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning, January 23, 2016, at 7:15 a.m. at his home.
Glenn was born April 9, 1940 in Labuco, Alabama. He was the son of James W. and Nancy U’ada (Minor) Patton.
On December 22, 1961, Glenn was united in marriage to Iris “Pat” Brogdon in Chicago, Illinois. She survives.
Other survivors include: his children – Donna Kay (Ken) Herman of Grantsburg and James Glenn (Carla) Patton of Mexico; 6 grandchildren – Ashley Nicole Skeens, James Michael Patton, Brandy “Maylynn” Nelson, Corey J. Patton, Gina Nichole Herman, and James Glenn Herman; 9 great grandchildren – Trevor, Olivia, Annabella, Forsythia, Nathan, Autumn, Zayden, Nevaeh, & Julia; and 2 nieces – Ann Shugart and Lisa Rigsby both of Alabama.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by 2 sisters – Faye Riley and Shirley Hicks.
Glenn was employed for 32 ½ years as a machinist and foreman at Camco Industiral Motion Control LLC in Wheeling, Illinois. He retired in 2002.
Glenn was a former member of the Masonic fraternity.
Glenn is remembered by his family for his deep appreciation of the sentimental value of everything around him and for his constant thoughtfulness. For over 40 years, he has made Pat coffee every morning for her to enjoy. More recently, Glenn had developed an interest in cooking.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 12 noon at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Robinson-Wise Cemetery north of Ozark.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, January 27, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
