Billy D. Collins, 82, of Karnak, IL, passed away at 5:25 p.m. Friday evening, November 20, 2015 at Baptist Health Care in Paducah, KY.
Billy was born July 18, 1933 in Karnak. He had worked for F.H. McGraw then he entered the United States Air Force where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked on the Kankakee Police Force, AT&T Company in Los Angeles, CA. Billy had also been self employed as an insurance agent for many years. He had worked at Menard Correctional Center in Chester as a guard and had also served many years at the Kankakee State Hospital. He was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Paducah, KY.
Mr. Collins is survived by his daughter, Christy Womble and his son Billy D. Collins Jr., both of Wake Forest, NC; seven grand children, Ashley Escobedo (Roger) of California, Alex Collins Byrd (Trey)of Georgia; Hannah Collins, Joshua Collins and Bryson Collins all of Florida; Ian Vohringer of North Carolina; Ryan Vohringer(Carolina) of North Carolina; three great grandchildren, Tristan, Kairi and Sullivan; many nieces and nephews, along with two special nieces Rhonda Carnes and Sharon Wilson who were his caregivers for the last several years.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Bunare “Bun” and Mae Corzine Collins; four brothers, Adam Howard Collins, Hershel Collins, Virgil Collins and Glen Collins; five sisters, Opal Collins, Jewell Stewart, Georgia Grace, Catherine (Kakki) Ramage and his beloved twin sister Betty Collins.
Funeral Services for Mr. Collins will be Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Karnak Pentcostal Church at 1:00 p.m. with Senior Pastor Encil Edmonds and Pastor Michael Hunt officiating.
Music will be provided by Sister Rachael Hunt and Sharon Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. till the funeral hour of 1 p.m. at the church.
Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Cypress, IL. Graveside Military Honors will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post # 5222 and theUnited States Air Force Burial Detail Team.
