Jim was born October 5, 1960 in Metropolis, Illinois. He was the son of Fred Parks, Jr. and Louella (Troutt) Parks.
In addition to his mother, Jim is survived by a brother – Billy Parks of the Reevesville community; a niece – Amber Parks; 2 nephews – Chris Parks and Patrick Parks; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his father, Jim was preceded in death by 2 brothers – Chris Parks and Larry Parks.
Jim was employed as a groundskeeper at the Metropolis Country Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and had previously worked on the farm at the Vienna Correctional Center, where he enjoyed helping with the pheasant repopulation program. Jim was also an avid rock collector, woodworker, gunsmith, and leather craftsman. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim is remembered for his great talent and skill with any project he set his hand to and for his tremendous patience and precision. Jim was a member of the Reevesville Community Church.
A Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday afternoon, September 12, 2015, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Steve Watkins will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Reevesville Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 12 Noon – 1 PM Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home.
